Obertauern once again proved to be a versatile freeride destination, featuring challenging alpine terrain and perfect conditions for high-level contests. Its snow-sure location and varied faces make the region a hotspot for the international freeride scene.
The Open Faces Obertauern FWT Challenger is the fourth of six crucial contests this season – a pivotal moment in the battle for valuable points and the chance to advance to the Freeride World Tour.
At the triple event (Challenger, Qualifier & Junior), the technically demanding Hundskogel hosted top-level freeride action, with international riders impressing through strong performances and creative lines. From an Austrian perspective, Simon Zwischenbrugger remains on track despite a setback: although a fall prevented a top placement, he still leads the overall Challenger Series ranking and remains well-positioned to qualify for the Freeride World Tour.
The Ski Men victory went to Noah Peizerat, ahead of Nemo Plagne and Alex Williams. In the other categories, outstanding runs and spectacular tricks ensured a consistently high level of competition. The event once again highlights Obertauern’s significance as a key stop on the international freeride calendar, with exciting battles shaping the race for Pro Tour qualification.
