Over the past few years, Kappl has transformed from a hidden gem for freeriders into one of the most renowned freeride areas in the Alps. “Kapplaska,” as it’s affectionately known in the scene, has already been used twice by the Freeride World Tour (FWT) as a World Tour event, after the FWT stop had to be moved from Fieberbrunn to the Paznaun Valley.
Everything in and around Kappl exudes freeride spirit: The manageable, welcoming ski area offers countless lines in almost every aspect – ideal for riders seeking variety, short ascents, and plenty of untouched terrain. It’s no wonder Kappl is one of the most impressive stops on the Open Faces competition circuit and has long since established itself as a significant breeding ground for up-and-coming freeriders.
In addition to the 3* FWT Qualifier, Kappl is also hosting the FJWC (Freeride Junior World Championships) for the seventh time. This contest, where the next generation of international freeriders competes for the world championship title, will once again be held at the spectacular “Quellspitze” in 2026.
